The core of our manufacturing is our heat treating, gear cutting and gear grinding capabilities. Having all 3 key processes and expertise in-house enables direct and immediate feedback in the production process to assure the highest precision levels can be met for our customer's most demanding applications.

In addition to having expertise in these core processes, Merit has a full compliment of process capabilities which enable us to produce precision gears completely in-house. Our capabilities include machining, turning, milling, drilling, broaching, key seating, OD/ID grinding, and balancing. All of our production processes are supported by full inspection capabilities to assure we are meeting the highest precision standards in the industry. Our full process capabilities assure complete control of the manufacturing process and enables us to be very responsive to the lead time requirements of our customers....if a quick response is needed, we can deliver!

Merit Gear manufactures precision spur and helical gearing as well as complete custom gearboxes. We can produce precision external gearing from 20 mm to 2000 mm, and internal gears to 900 mm. In addition, we have precision gear grinding capabilities of up to 3500 mm. Merit has the ability to produce gearing up to AGMA Q-15 precision levels. We can produce gearboxes anywhere from 150 cubic mm to 2500 cubic mm and up to 9 metric tons in weight. Merit manufactures custom planetary, parallel shaft, and right-angle designs. Merit makes gearboxes that are used in rigorous applications in mining, water well drilling, oil field, fire trucks and azimuth drives for huge telescopes.

Our latest expanded capabilities include the following:

• State-of-the-art 3.5M Hoefler gear grinding equipment with dual spindles for simultaneous bore, face, and OD finishing operations
• Expanded heat treatment capabilities, including carburizing, quench and tempering, up to 28,000 pounds and 90 inches in diameter.
• New 2.0M gear hobbing equipment incorporating the latest technology
• Gleason 3000GMM machine capable of measuring gear geometry to the highest precision level
